Welcome to the UW Mosses and Lichen Blog!
We are a group of students in a Natural Hisory class working to catalog the mosses and lichens on the University of Washington Seattle Campus. We hope this blog will serve as a platform for continuing research for mosses and lichens in the Pacific Northwest.
Hope you're lichen it!
First, a few fun facts:
- Some Arctic lichens are over 4,000 years old
- Many lichens are used in perfumes
- Lichen is sometimes used in making vodka and brandy
- About 50 different birds use lichen to build their nests
- Lichen is in Tom's deodorant

ReplyDeleteI love the layout of the page and the information presented. Everything flow nicely and it's quite easy on the eyes. I thought the links and resources tab could be more extensive (I'm sure you're updating it soon). I especially enjoy the fun facts, I didn't know lichen is in Tom's deodorant. That gives me mixed feelings about buying it now!

The layout looks awesome! The information was interesting, concise, and thorough. I have two suggestions that I think will improve the site. My first is to expand the "Links and Resources" tabs, as they look a bit sparse. One or two extra online links and some short summaries will help fill out the page nicely. My second suggestion is to fill out the "What is a Lichen?" tab a bit more (if possible). The tab dedicated to mosses is so well done and thorough, it really makes the Lichen tab seem like it should have more information. Great Job as whole though! I can't wait to check out the site when it's complete!

Great home page. Everything is really easy to navigate and follow. The info on the air pollution was really interesting.
